We collect as little as we can, we never sell your data, and this page explains the rest in plain language.

The short version
- We only collect what you actively give us — through the contact form, an account, the chat, or the game leaderboard.
- We never sell or rent your data, and we don't run ads.
- Google Analytics only sets cookies with your consent if you're visiting from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland.
- Your account data and messages are stored on our servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
Who we are
This website is operated by Otterfly, LLC, based in West Palm Beach, Florida, United States (see the imprint for registration details). For any privacy question or request, use the contact form — it reaches us directly.
What we collect, and why
Contact form
When you write to us, we receive what you enter: name, email address, subject, message, and optionally a phone number. To handle your request well and to protect the form from abuse, our systems also record technical context — your browser, operating system and device type, your language, and information derived from your IP address such as approximate location, network provider, and an automated spam and abuse screening. An AI-generated draft reply may be prepared to help us respond faster; a human always decides what is actually sent.
Accounts and features
If you create an account, we store your email address, display name, and — if you upload one — a profile photo. Some features store data tied to your account: personalized Gazette issues, and the game leaderboard, where your chosen player name and scores are visible to other players.
Chat assistant
Messages you type into the chat widget are processed to generate an answer, including by AI systems (see below). Please don't share sensitive personal information in the chat.
Server logs
Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, requested page, timestamp) for security and troubleshooting.
AI-assisted processing
Customer service and the chat assistant are supported by a mix of AI systems — self-hosted models and established third-party AI providers such as Anthropic and OpenAI. Your inputs are used to generate a response and are not used by us for advertising or profiling.
Cookies and local storage
We keep it minimal:
- Essential cookies — a session cookie when you log in, a spam-protection check on the contact form (Cloudflare Turnstile), your language preference, and your cookie decision itself. These are required for the site to work and are always active.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics only. If you visit from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, they are set only after you agree in the banner; declining fully disables Google Analytics for you.
- Local storage on your device — things like music player settings and cached video frames. This data stays in your browser and is not transmitted to us.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC, USA) to understand which pages are read and how the site performs. Where consent is required, we ask first — and "no" means Google Analytics never loads for you.
We also use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, which are cookieless and give us aggregated page and performance statistics without identifying you.
Where your data lives
Accounts, content, contact submissions, and chat processing run on our own servers in Frankfurt, Germany. The website itself is delivered by Vercel (a US company with a global network), and static media by Cloudflare's CDN. Email notifications are delivered via Mailgun.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers named on this page, and only so they can provide their service to us — never for their own marketing. We do not sell personal data. We would disclose data if legally compelled to.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time what we have stored about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — just use the contact form. If you're in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you can also withdraw your analytics consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser; the banner will then ask again.
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes above, then delete it.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and its effective date.
